Swanage is a small, busy seaside town in Dorset, and has been chosen as a venue because of its proximity to the Jurassic coast World Heritage Site and its diverse accommodation and good restaurants. You will need to find your own accommodation. There are numerous possibilities to suit different requirements, from the Swanage Auberge (£20 per night, rooms shared by 5) through to rather grand hotels. Make sure that the place you book is actually in Swanage - some places offered on Tripadvisor as “Swanage” are miles out of town!
Swanage is accessible by train to Wareham in Dorset (Southwest trains) then a short bus ride. The buses are fairly frequent. Trains from Gatwick airport to Wareham take about 3 hours. If you are in a group, it will be more convenient and cheaper to take a taxi from Wareham station to Swanage.
We will meet in the centre of Swanage each morning and travel to field and classroom venues by minibus, and return in the evening. The classroom part of the course will be located at the famous Steve Etches Museum in Kimmeridge, about 15 minutes drive from Swanage.
Details of sponsorships for attending the course will be placed on the website as soon as they are available.
